http://www.ashgi.org/nationalspecialtyclinic.htm USASA and ASHGI are teaming up this year to offer an expanded list of health screening options as well as a blood draw for a variety of research studies. In addition to the MDR1 and AKC DNA Profile Program we offered last year, we’ve added a CERF Clinic and Optigen CEA & PRA Screening. We are happy to announce that we will be offering the AHT Cataract screening test at the USASA subsidized and substantially reduced price of $88.50 per dog. The blood draw this year will focus on the University of Minnesota Epilepsy Study. This is the first major canine epilepsy study that will include Australian Shepherds – thanks to the funding made possible from joint donations of ASHGI, USASA, the USAS Foundation and Toby’s Foundation. Other research projects supported by the blood draw are the NCSU Hemangiosarcoma/Lymphoma Study and the University of Pennsylvania/University of California San Francisco Canine Behavioral Genetics Project. Blood will also be drawn for the CHIC DNA Repository to support future research studies. USASA will continue to subsidize the MDR1 and CHIC DNA Repository fees as well as offer the AKC DNA Profile test at the Parent Club rate which saves you approximately $10 per test. The MDR1 test costs will increase significantly July 1st- so take advantage now! Many of these tests and blood draws require pre-registration and pre-payment. This year all forms and pre-payment arrangements through Paypal are being administered through ASHGI Following is a schedule of all Health & Genetic Events. Go to the ASHGI website http://www.ashgi.org/nationalspecialtyclinic.htm for complete details on the tests, etc., as well as pre-registration and pre-payment information. |
