Australian Shepherd color and markings

Australian Shepherds come in four basic coat colors: black, blue merle (various shades of gray mixed with black patches), red (ranging from light cinnamon to dark liver), and red merle (any shade of red patches on a silver or beige background). Any of these basic colors may also have white markings on the face, neck, chest, belly and legs as well as tan points (ranging in color from cream to dark rust) on the face, chest, legs, and under parts.

Aussies in action

Australian Shepherds are a highly versatile breed, and can be trained to do almost any activity. They excel at herding livestock, obedience competition, agility, tracking, Flyball, frisbee and are also used as seeing eye dogs, therapy dogs, detection work, search and rescue, and many other activities.
