Important 2021 USASA National Specialty Announcement

Over the past weeks, as the USASA Board and Show Committee became increasingly unsure of Purina’s prospects for hosting large conformation events in early 2021 due to the COVID pandemic, we set out on a mission of evaluating and securing a potential alternative site with an eye on ensuring it contained features our Nationals attendees have come to enjoy, and the ability to host our many conformation and performance venues onsite or close by. In addition, we endeavored to have a site located in a geographic area familiar and accessible to our exhibitors and volunteers, with dates similar to our planned event, and finally, with a strong level of certainty that the facility would be open and in full-operating status. A tall order to fill.

That said, we were just officially informed that Purina will continue to operate on a limited basis with specific capacity limits, and will not open for full capacity events through at least the end of April, 2021.

As a result, we are thrilled to formally announce that we have partnered with the National Equestrian Center (NEC) in Lake St. Louis, Missouri (link below) and we WILL be having a 2021 USASA National Specialty from May 1 – May 7, 2021! This facility has successfully hosted a number of AKC All-Breed and Specialty dog shows in the past, and the NEC event staff is thrilled to welcome USASA next year!

As you can imagine, shifting sites with short notice will be an incredible undertaking by everyone involved with the National Specialty.

We know you likely have questions, but in the immediate short term we appreciate your patience as we work through the many logistics. Please know that additional information will be shared as soon as possible.

With this change, we will definitely be looking for all hands on deck; volunteers across all venues to assist with all aspects of Nationals, both prior to and during, to ensure a safe and successful event for everyone. Thank you in advance.

Again, more details to follow in the days and weeks ahead.
Please share this post so the exciting news gets out! Thank you!
